# CMIS 5.x Protocol Analyzer Plugin

> The Binho CMIS Protocol Analyzer Plugin decodes CMIS 5.x management traffic in Saleae Logic 2: what it decodes, what it needs and how it is licensed.

The CMIS Protocol Analyzer Plugin is a register-level decoder for Saleae Logic 2. It decodes CMIS management traffic on pluggable optical modules and tracks page and bank state across transactions, so a raw byte maps to a named register field.

## What it decodes

* CMIS over its two management transports: I2CMCI (I2C) and SPIMCI (SPI). The transport decode is built in, so no extra analyzer is needed.
* CMIS revisions 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4, chosen with a revision selector.
* Page and bank state, carried across transactions.
* A searchable data table, by page, byte and field.
* Bus errors, partial frames, over-length accesses and out-of-model accesses, flagged in place.
* A simulation mode for each transport.
* Automation, with the Logic 2 Automation API and Python example scripts.

| Sample rate | At least 4 times the bus clock. 8 times or more is recommended. |

## Licensing

| Flex | Shared among team members on internet-connected computers. Needs an internet connection and no license server. |
| Node-locked | Tied to one computer. Works without internet access, with no license server. |
