# Binho Atira: FAQ

> Short answers to common questions about the Binho Atira: what it does, which software drives it, target power, and what is not available yet.

Short answers to common questions about the Binho Atira debug probe.

## What can the Atira do?

It is an SWD debug probe for Arm Cortex-M microcontrollers. It halts, steps and sets hardware breakpoints, programs the target's internal flash, switches and measures a 3.3 V target rail, programs external SPI NOR flash, and bridges a UART to a serial port on the computer. See the [overview](/hardware/atira/).

## Which software drives it?

* **[Mission Control 3](/software/mission-control/) desktop app:** the MCU Programmer and the MCU Debugger, with no code.
* **[PyCosmicSDK](https://binhollc.github.io/pycosmicsdk/) 1.7.0 or newer** (Python) and **[CosmicSDK](https://binhollc.github.io/CosmicSDK/getting_started/debug_probe.html) 1.7.0 or newer** (C and C++).
* **[pyOCD](https://pyocd.io)**, for flashing: the Atira is a standard CMSIS-DAP probe. See [Flashing a target MCU with pyOCD](/hardware/atira/protocols/#flashing-a-target-mcu-with-pyocd).

## Does the Atira support JTAG, RTT, SWO or UPDI?

Not yet. They are not in Atira firmware 1.0. See [Not yet available](/hardware/atira/#not-yet-available).

## Does the Atira power my target?

It can. It supplies a switched 3.3 V rail on J4 pin 1, and the rail is off when the probe powers up. Switch it on before any SWD, SPI or UART traffic, even if the target has its own supply: the probe's level shifters run from the rail. Self-powered targets are limited; read [Target power](/hardware/atira/reference/#target-power) before connecting one.

## Can I use more than one Atira at the same time?

Each probe has its own serial number. `list_debug_probes()` lists them, and `DebugProbe.open(serial="...")` opens a specific one. A probe and a Supernova or a Pulsar can be open in the same Python process.

## Which target chips does it work with?

Any Arm Cortex-M target with SWD at 3.3 V. Flashing has been verified on an STM32H503RB with pyOCD, and other Cortex-M devices with a CMSIS pack should work the same way. In Mission Control 3, flashing goes through the chip's CMSIS device pack: [Install a device pack](/software/mission-control/tools/install-a-device-pack/).
