# Software

> Mission Control 3, PyCosmicSDK and CosmicSDK for Binho adapters, the older software for the Nova, and which one to start with.

Mission Control 3 is the app for point-and-click work. PyCosmicSDK and CosmicSDK are the SDKs for scripts and applications. The older packages stay available for the Binho Nova and for existing code.

:::note
Which software works with which adapter: [Supported Devices](/software/supported-devices/). The Binho Nova runs on its own software, Mission Control 2 and the [Nova SDK](/software/legacy/nova-sdk/).

## Where to start

| I want to | Use |
| --------- | --- |
| Try an adapter without writing code | [Mission Control 3](/software/mission-control/), as a desktop app or at [mc3.binho.io](https://mc3.binho.io/) |
| Script an adapter in Python | [PyCosmicSDK](/software/pycosmicsdk/) |
| Write C or C++ (C# and Java bindings exist) | [CosmicSDK](/software/cosmicsdk/) |
| Use a Binho Nova | [Mission Control 2](/software/legacy/mission-control-2/) and the [Nova SDK](/software/legacy/nova-sdk/) |
| Keep scripts written for the older Python packages | [Migrating to PyCosmicSDK](/software/pycosmicsdk/migrating-to-pycosmicsdk/): PyCosmicSDK includes compatibility layers, so most scripts run with a changed import |

## Firmware and downloads

Firmware is versioned separately from the software. Download links for both are on the [Releases](/releases/) page, and the firmware update steps are in [Updating Firmware](/guides/firmware-updates/).
