# Legacy SDKs

> Legacy: the Python packages, C++ SDK, and Bridge 1.1 API tied to Binho Mission Control 2.

**Legacy:** this documents the SDKs tied to Binho Mission Control 2. Every page
below except [Nova SDK](/software/legacy/nova-sdk/) is being phased out in favor of
[CosmicSDK and the new Python SDK](..). It remains
supported during the transition. New projects on Supernova or Pulsar should start
with [CosmicSDK](/software/cosmicsdk/).

These are the SDKs that shipped alongside Binho Mission Control 2. They remain
available and supported, and they continue to work against current firmware, but
they are no longer where new development happens. New work on Supernova and Pulsar
is going into [CosmicSDK and the Python SDK](..).

[Nova SDK](/software/legacy/nova-sdk/) is the exception on this page. It is listed here because
it belongs to the same generation of tooling, **not** because it is being
replaced. Binho Nova is outside the CosmicSDK transition and has no successor
SDK planned.

## Python packages

* [SupernovaController](/software/legacy/supernovacontroller/)

The high-level, blocking Python API for Supernova, covering I2C and I3C. This is
still the most practical starting point for Python users today.

* [Nova SDK](/software/legacy/nova-sdk/)

The Python SDK for Binho Nova, distributed as `binho-python-package`. Nova only.

* [binhosupernova](/software/legacy/binhosupernova/)

The lower-level Python package for Supernova that `supernovacontroller` is built
on.

* [binhopulsar](/software/legacy/binhopulsar/)

The Pulsar equivalent of `binhosupernova`, sharing its API.

## C++ and protocol-level

[c++-sdk](c++-sdk)

The BMC C++ SDK for Nova and Supernova, superseded by
[CosmicSDK](/software/cosmicsdk/) for Supernova and Pulsar.

[bridge-1.1-api](bridge-1.1-api)

The Bridge 1.1 command reference: the protocol-level API underneath the Mission
Control 2 tooling.
