# Is the ADC calibrated?

> No Binho ADC is calibrated; this covers what the ADC measures on the Supernova, Pulsar and Nova, and which PyCosmicSDK calls read it.

**No, on every Binho adapter.** The answer differs by product in what the ADC measures.

**Supernova and Pulsar**

The Supernova and the Pulsar have **no general-purpose analog input**. Pin 30 of the Supernova multifunction port is not connected; on the Pulsar it is the 1-Wire pin.

Their internal ADC reads the adapter's own voltage rails, which allows checking the target voltage:

| Call (PyCosmicSDK)                                         | Returns                                                       |
| ---------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `get_bus_voltage()` on `i2c()`, `spi()`, `uart()`; `get_voltage()` on `gpio()` | The shared multifunction target voltage rail (VTARG), in mV. All four read the same rail. |
| `i3c().get_bus_voltage()` (Supernova)                      | `(hv_mv, lv_mv)`, the two I3C rails                           |
| `await AsyncDevice.get_analog_measurements()` | All six rails in one call (async API only) |

See [Analog measurements](https://binhollc.github.io/pycosmicsdk/guides/lifecycle.html#analog-measurements) in the PyCosmicSDK docs.

These readings are not calibrated. The firmware converts a 12-bit ADC sample using the adapter's own 3.3 V analog supply as the reference, taken as exactly 3300 mV, so any error in that supply shows up in every reading. Use them to confirm that a rail is on, off or near its set point. For an exact value, measure VTARG with a multimeter.

* The reading shows whatever is on the VTARG pin, whoever supplies it. If it does not match the voltage that was set, another source is on the rail.
* On the Pulsar, the I3C fields of `get_analog_measurements()` have no meaning: the Pulsar has no I3C rails. Ignore them.

**Nova**

The Nova's 5 signal pins can be configured as ADC inputs. The ADC is not calibrated and not characterized for AC signals. Use it for roughly DC voltages only, not as an oscilloscope or a precision meter.
